Here's my little disclaimer. I am sorry for all who have to keep track of 2 blogs... some people keep track of 3. But this purely my way to keep all the developmental things that my children go through in one easy little blog instead of me trying to scroll thru and look between my endless posts of school, relationship and life problems. But you can just keep track of my
Normal Blog and I'll have posts up about updates and then a link to this blog. So, don't worry. I'll let you know when I update here. Ok.... now for the good stuff.
From the pregnancy journal:
Office Visit (6-8 weeks)Date: July 11th, 2005 9:15
Week of Pregnancy: 6 weeks 1 day
Blood Pressure: Normal
Tests/Results: I'll be taking many blood tests. Such as CBC/Hemogram, RPR, Rubella Immunity, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, ABO-Rh Typing, HIV, TSH.
My Questions: Can I take anything for my nausea? Yes. I've got a prescription. I need to take Tums. Should I be concerned about my swollen legs and feet? No. Because the swelling goes down when I sleep. I should keep drinking more water. Should I be concerned about annoying, sharp, nauseating pain? It might be gastritus. Take some Tums and the prescription for the nausea will help also.
Notes from the visit: She said that my thyroid looked a little swollen. So, they set up a blood test for that. Everything looks normal. I had a pap smear. It was very uncomfortable. Bleh.
Ultrasound was even uncomfortable. They inserted a scope inside of me. I was like, "I've never had this done before." She said, "Oh! I'm sorry! I should of explained it to." Basically, they can get a better picture of the baby and an accurate Estimated Due Date (EDD). It looks like a jelly bean with a heartbeat. The heart was just a thumpin'! It was really neat to see! I couldn't stop smiling. I got to take some pictures home and hopefully I'll be able to scan them and post them up here. The EDD is March 5, 2006.
At the end, she gave me a TON of stuff. Magazines, baby samples, coupons for lots of stuff. It was so heavy. I still have to go thru it all and read up on something. Even probably renew my subscription to Parents. I love that mag!
The Lab ExperienceSo, this was going to be like every other Lab experience before. I go in. I give them the paperwork from the doc. They poke me and then I'm done. But judging from my intro into this story, you're probably thinking that this isn't like anytime before. You're so right.
My right arm is the best arm to draw blood from. I've got this dark blue plump vein just begging to be poked. They get me ready. Tie a turnacut around my around. "June, I missed." I was in pain. They started to move the needle around in my arm. "I can feel the vein." "Oh yeah. It's in there." They do the same procedure on my other arm. This one hurt the worst. They moved it in there to. "Can't get a hold of one in there." So, they call someone else in the room. They stick me in the hand IV style. Couldn't get enuff blood thru that. Tears are just rolling. I was upset and hurting! Finally they had another lady come and she used a syringe in the side of my arm. OW!!!!
My hand is starting to hurt again as I type. Owie.
